MORE international names for the @ symbol, this time from Tim Fitzpatrick, of Glebe, who informs us that "in Italian, this little beast is called a 'chiocciola', which means 'snail'. Not a formal name, but graphic and eloquent nevertheless." Garry Stevens, of Annandale, adds that "in Israel it's called a strudel". The final word on the hash/hatch key comes from Tony Turner, of Tuross Head: "Musicians still call it the sharp key."
